School Council
Students are the most important part of any school, and the School Council is one of the ways that students have a voice, allowing the school to find out what students are thinking and how they want the school to develop; these are the key drivers for improvement.
The School Council is a made up of representatives from each year group. It meets termly to discuss issues raised from Year Focus groups, along with proposals and developments from teaching staff and the Senior Leadership Team. The meetings are chaired and run by the students, helping to develop leadership skills as part of the process. The School Council are also responsible for feeding information back to the students, which usually takes the form of an assembly.
The School Council have been involved, amongst other things, in working to improve the canteen offer, developing the Positive Behaviour Policy and discussing the new house system and a new rewards system.
Students apply to be a member of the School Council through the Student Leadership programme.
