County Schools Challenge on Road Safety

Our team of Year 9 students reached the Grand Finals of the County Schools Challenge on Road Safety. The students presented their idea for a series of videos highlighting common mistakes made by young people when using the roads, and offering advice on how to change their behaviour, to a panel of Dragons including the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Chief Fire Officer, the Chief Police Constable, the General Manger of Northamptonshire Highways and the Director of Children, Families and Education for NCC.

Our students weren't fazed by the Dragons, or the audience in The Castle Theatre, and presented their idea clearly and confidently. They displayed a range of enterprise skills such as teamwork, communication, problem solving and leadership throughout the Challenge, and did themselves (and us!) proud.

Competition was fierce for the £2000 investment, which was eventually won by Southfields School for Girls in Kettering. Although they didn't place in the top 3 on the night, they should be proud of their achievements to get this far. They came away with a goodie bag from the Challenge organisers and the promise of pizza from Miss Collins!
